Halley Bay - 2017

• Station modules relocated to new site Halley VIa
• Decision to close the station and pull out all personnel over winter. See BAS Press Release. This will be the first break in 61 years of continuous occupation.
• Last personnel flown out 2 March 2017; Brunt Ice Shelf deserted for the first time since 1956.
• BAS announces that the base will not be manned over winter in 2018. See Press Release dated 31 Oct 2017. The press release is no longer on line but here is a Facebook post which refers to it.
• The base is ready for the 2017-2018 season. See Press Release dated 10 Nov 2017.
