Halley 70 Year Celebration - 2026

Friday 9th - Sunday 11th October 2026 Northampton Town Centre Hotel An event to mark 70 years from the founding of the base at Halley Bay, Antarctica, on 6th January 1956 by the International Geophysical Year Expedition. It follows on from the successful 50th (Z-50) and 60th (Z-60) anniversary celebrations.

The event will have three strands:

• Reunion of people who have inhabited or visited the station, and some of its history.
• Current and future science at the station, enabled by its unique location.
• The engineering, technology and logistics which make the science possible.
